Commemorative Challenge Coin
2.5" diameter Antique Brass Coin, 3.5mm Thick, Hand-Painted
Challenge coins are traditionally presented to military service members to recognize a specific unit or corps, for outstanding service, or to commemorate a special event. When “challenged,” service members of the same unit must display their coins. You never know when you will receive a challenge coin from a service member, usually concealed in a handshake, but it is an immense honor and a symbol of gratitude and respect.
The Project Welcome Home challenge coin measures 2 ½ inches in diameter, and was designed with this unique military history in mind. The front features outlines of three iconic aircraft from the Vietnam War: a Bell UH-1 Iroquois helicopter, a B-52G Stratofortress, and a McDonnell F-4C Phantom. The back of the coin displays a Vietnam Service Medal ribbon, the silhouette of an airman returning home carrying a flag, and the words “Learn. Honor. Remember. Heal.”
5" x 3" dim., Full-embroidery fabric patch
Embroidered patches are used to identify a specific unit or corps, and all branches of the military have their own distinctive designs。 The Project Welcome Home patch measures 3 inches by 5 inches, and features a Vietnam Service Medal ribbon, the silhouette of an airman returning home carrying a flag, the outline of a B-52G Stratofortress, and the words “Learn。 Honor。 Remember。 Heal。” The green and gold colors traditionally symbolize loyalty and generosity, which makes this patch a perfect keepsake for our Project Welcome Home supporters who have helped make the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Park a reality。
